Volunteering Opportunities

The conversation club!

Come along to Victoria Hall on Wednesdays between 1-4pm to help informally teach refugees and Asylum seekers English through conversation! You can come anytime between 1-4, whenever works for you! It’s an easy way to get involved, do something small to help combat social isolation and be part of changing attitudes towards refugees and asylum seekers for the better. If Wednesdays don’t work for you, you can also volunteer on Fridays between 1-4pm at the United Reformed Church.

Women’s conversation club

Spaces for this semester are all filled now! But watch this space for other ways to get involved!

Volunteer with ASSIST

ASSIST are an organisation who help and support destitute asylum seekers (who have had their application for asylum denied). There are many ways in which you can volunteer, whether you want to be a volunteer translator, or can spare a couple of nights a month to volunteer at the night shelter, find all the information you need here: https://goo.gl/forms/NeH5d7KMGeehje3E3

Sunday Centre:

Volunteer on a Sunday at the Sunday Centre between 12:30 and 4pm at Victoria Hall! You’ll help set up, greet guests as they arrive, serve on the tea bar & wash mugs, chat with guests, help serve hot meals and help to clear up.

This is ideal for anyone seeking to become involved with an organisation that directly benefits the Sheffield community or who wishes to learn more about homelessness and related social issues. Other benefits include social interaction, improved team-working skills, and active listening skills.

Charity Week 2018

What a smashing Charity Week, alhamdulillah! With 3 parts to it (Monday 29th October – Sunday 18th November), we had more time to focus on our intentions, to volunteer for the sake of Allah, and to give to a cause that will continue to benefit people for many years to come inshaAllah. We managed to raise £17,000 to build wells in Ghana!
